Disaster Recovery as a Service, also known as Fast Failover, enables you to spin up hot standbys of your virtual desktops or servers in our secure data center. This way, you can recover from disasters quickly and be back in operation in minutes or hours instead of days.

    Spin up virtual machines on demand, and quickly recover your data to VMs that are located in the same data center as your backup data.

    You have the option to fire up a pre-spun hot standby of your virtual instance immediately, or fail over to a warm or cold copy of the data in a remote data center in minutes or hours instead of days or weeks.

    Storage Guardian offers proactive monitoring via full integration with SNMP management software to provide better control and management of your cloud data.

How it works

Disaster Recovery as a Service can play a central role in your disaster recovery strategy. Here’s how it works:

1. Backup

Whenever a backup takes place, the customer’s DS-Client unit deduplicates, compresses and encrypts the changed blocks of virtual machines. It then transmits this data to the DS-System at our data center.

2. Virtual Machines

At the data center, the DS-VDR decrypts and uncompresses the changed blocks of data, and performs an incremental restore of the VMs to a standby ESXi server.

3. Disaster Recovery

When faced with a disaster, the VMs can be turned on and accessed via external IP access. Because they already existed on "standby", recovery is simply a matter of accessing these VMs.

4. Failback

The remote DS-Client backs up the changed blocks of VMs at the data center while they are in use in a disaster. These changed VMs can then be restored to the original infrastructure once it is back online.
